TWO ARTISTS OF EAST HAWAI`I

SUZY PAPANIKOLAS; resided in Makawao, Maui for seven years and established herself as a well loved portrait artist. She has recently moved to the Big Island near Hilo.

Suzy has received many awards fro her art: best in show – East Bay Watercolor Society and the Great Makawao Paint Out. She has had many one man shows and has been a part of many juried shows such as the prestigious Art Maui and the Hui No’eau
Annual.

Suzy has a great love for the Hawaiian and Polynesian culture and spends much of her time going to gatherings like the Merri Monarch Hula Festival. She sees such beauty in the people and wants to record this great renaissance of the Hawaiian culture.
Her collectors are many, from local Hawaiians to all lovers of the polynesian culture. Ninoa Thompson, Navigator of the Hokule’a is an owner of one of her works.

EVE FURCHGOTT; Works in a variety of media, most recently focusing on printmaking and oil painting. She also works in charcoal, watercolor, pastel, wood and bronze.

Since coming to the Big Island in 1993 she has competed in many group and invitational exhibits and has had four solo exhibits. She has won awards in oil painting, printmaking and bronze sculpture. Asked about her inspiration she replies,
“The overwhelming natural beauty of the island, although animals and people are a favorite subject as well – the possibilities are endless”.

Eve’s work has been collected by the Hawai`i State foundation for the Arts and is exhibited in many galleries throughout the island.
